A new generation of Roman architecture

At first glance, Rome’s MAXXI Museum, the futuristic, Zaha Hadid–designed structure that is Italy’s new National Museum of 21st Century Arts, doesn’t seem to jibe with the city’s classical monuments and Baroque churches. Yet The Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Steven Litt finds that the museum—along with Richard Meier's Ara Pacis Museum and Renzo Piano's Auditorium Parco della Musica—is adding a “dimension of richness and a new layer of time in one of the world's great cities.”...
