MoMA’s ‘Foreclosed,’ reviewed

“Foreclosed,” the highly charged ongoing exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), makes a strong case that suburban single-family homes have played a role in the foreclosure crisis. Reviewing the exhibition in The Next American City, Diana Lind agrees that reliable economic data supports the claim that suburbs are unsustainable. “But,” she writes, “while the exhibit’s thesis that sprawl is toxic jives with that of many urbanists, the architectural remedies on display seem almost as problematic.”...
