Philly city council silent on I-95 corridor
Though the administration of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter is known for its ambitious master plans, city hall has been strangely silent on the development of the city’s I-95 corridor. The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Inga Saffron reports that the interstate, “vastly overbuilt in the mid-60’s,” cuts off one of America’s most historic neighborhoods, Penn’s Landing, from the Delaware Waterfront. “Given the growing interest in capturing the waterfront's economic potential, the future of I-95 should be a hot topic in City Hall,” Saffron writes. “Instead, it's virtually taboo.”...
